EDUCATION VERIFICATION

At CV Insight, we have found that education is one of the areas where applicants seem most willing to mislead potential employers. Original certificates can be forged so we confirm in writing all educational details direct with the relevant institution.

Validation of an individual’s qualifications are essential to ensure that employment decisions can be made with an accurate knowledge of the applicant’s academic suitability. We recommend confirmation of an individual’s qualifications for roles covering education, technology, management and most business and office roles.

Secondary and Higher Education Checks

Confirm details of the institution attended, period, subject or course title, along with grade achieved or classification of qualification.

Professional Memberships Checks

Confirm the name of the institution, type of membership, length and membership number.

EMPLOYMENT HISTORY CHECKS

Employment history checks are critical in determining whether a candidate possesses the relevant skills and necessary experience to perform the job. It will also help in identifying unsuitable, unqualified or inexperienced candidates before they have started their employment or during their probationary period.

We obtain both UK and international employment references from Human Resource departments, Line Managers as well as FSA compliant references. Our experienced researchers will always strive to obtain more than basic employment details. The level of information volunteered by employers may however vary.

Company Verification

Enables us to reduce the risk to our client by identifying any ambiguous referee details provided by candidates. CV Insight will endeavour to validate the company name and address through public and private data records.

CV Verification

Ensures all anomalies and discrepancies are identified immediately. We perform CV verification at the start of the process ensuring that data contained in the candidate CV is cross checked against the completed online application form. Any inconsistencies regarding the candidate’s employment, education and current address will be investigated and reported to the client.

Human Resources References

The information provided is usually in accordance with a company’s internal policies. Where possible, we will verify the employer’s name and address, period of employment, position held, parental leave, reason for leaving and eligibility for the future role.

Line Manager References

These references provide additional information not usually provided in Human Resources references. Where possible, we will verify the employer’s name and address, relationship to candidate as well as performance related questions. This ensures that candidates have the necessary skills and experience required.

Financial Services Authority (FSA) Compliant References

Relevant FSA compliant references are requested for approved persons as set out by the FSA. These searches confirm various aspects of the candidate’s employment history with FSA member firms.

EMPLOYMENT GAP VERIFICATION

An additional benefit of using a screening provider is that any anomalies in a candidate’s employment history can be quickly identified and investigated.

In some instances employment gaps can be used to hide employment roles that have not worked out. We will highlight any gaps disclosed or identified during the screening process. These will then be investigated in line with our client requirements.

Our staff will investigate any inconsistencies and attempt to obtain written confirmation to support any employment gaps such as unemployment and periods spent abroad. In instances where this is not possible, personal referees can be obtained from those who have first hand knowledge of the applicant, during that period.

As part of our standard service, CV Insight investigates any employment gaps over three months.

PERSONAL & PROFESSIONAL REFERENCES

Our personal and professional references are often used in absence of official employment references, as well as part of BS7858 standard for confirmation of periods of self-employment, unemployment and where no employment history exists.

This provides an insight into the candidate’s suitability of character as perceived by the referee. CV Insight attempts to verify the referee’s name and address, relationship to candidate and length of time they have known the candidate.
