THE FINANCIAL SECTOR

In the UK, the Financial Services and Markets Act requires all FSA registered companies to comply with its screening regulations to ensure their employees are ‘fit and proper’ to perform the role.

The FSA’s regulatory objectives are:

CVI Logo

Maintaining market confidence in the financial system

CVI Logo

Public awareness and promoting public understanding of the financial system

CVI Logo

The protection of consumers, and securing the appropriate degree of protection for consumers

CVI Logo

The reduction of financial crime by reducing the extent to which it is possible for a regulated person/company to be used for a purpose connected with financial crime

The FSA Supervision Manual states that candidates must be verified to highlight their honesty, integrity, reputation competence, capability and financial soundness. CV Insight’s committed team will ensure that your candidate is ‘fit and proper’ to perform the controlled function applied for, with the skills, experience and knowledge to carry out their responsibilities in line with the FSA regulations.

THE SECURITY INDUSTRY

The Security Industry is a highly regulated environment and as such we provide comprehensive screening for individuals in line with the standards set down in BS7858 for Security Screening of Individuals Employed in a Security Environment. This standard states that this level of screening is to protect the security and safety of people, goods and/or property.

Our BS7858 screening service ensures all current requirements of the Security Industry Authority are met. We also advise our clients of any changes or amendments to the regulations ensuring they are fully protected and meeting the necessary standards.

IT SECTOR

This industry requires employment screening due to the potential for theft and fraud. IT personnel will often have access to sensitive data, including a company’s accounts, employee information and its new business development, all of which it will want to keep out of the public domain. Therefore it is imperative that employers have a screening policy in place to minimise their risk.

CV Insight will advise on the most suitable level of screening for each individual role depending on the level of responsibility.

RECRUITMENT

We assist recruitment companies when their clients are required to undergo an additional level of screening before securing a post. This will vary according to the nature of the role from CRB checks, when a candidate is being placed into a sensitive area, to more comprehensive packages for senior positions. The recruitment company can elect to use our services as little or as often as the need arises.

PUBLIC SECTOR

In the Public Sector, including educational establishments, hospitals and local authorities, it is essential to get the recruitment right as the employees may have access to sensitive public information. These institutions are under close public scrutiny meaning that any mistakes will be highlighted publicly and could cost your business negative media attention or even legal action.

We can provide tailored packages to suit recruitment at all levels, and will advise you on the necessary screening level for each position.

RETAIL & LEISURE

While the Retail and Leisure Industry have no set standards to adhere to, CV Insight advises retail companies on the most appropriate screening levels to ensure they secure the best employees and so reduce costs associated with recruitment and staff turnover.

Having a strict code of screening in place also helps to minimise the internal risk for your company in terms of theft or fraud. Statistics reveal that by using a screening company 15% of time wasters will not apply for positions thus reducing the workload for the busy HR department.

LEGAL SECTOR

CV Insight’s experience in this sector means that we are able to offer the correct advice on the level of screening required for your Legal Professionals and ensure you receive a full and comprehensive report for your files.

AVIATION INDUSTRY

The industry is one of the most regulated in the UK as a result of increased security requirement set by the DPO (Department of Transport).

This has resulted in an increase in strict employment rule and regulations adding further pressure to HR Departments and we have found more companies have chosen to outsource this area.

CVI ensure all potential employment verification checks comply with the strict regulations set out by the Aviation Security Act. We also advise our clients of any changes or amendments to the regulations ensuring they are fully protected and meeting the necessary standards.

Everyone is doing it

CV fraud is growing because 'people believe everyone else is doing it'. And they are not far wrong - most figures suggest that one in four CVs now contain some sort of lie, from enhancing job titles to hiding dismissals
